Louise de la Vallière (1644-1710), was a mistress of King Louis XIV of France from 1661-1667. She underwent a religious crisis in 1670 and soon after became a Carmelite nun. She wrote a theological work, Reflections on the Mercy of God, which paralleled the divine attribute of mercy with the virtues proper to the repentant sinner.
